As a dedicated healthcare professional, I bring extensive experience in medication administration, infection control, and key clinical skills, perfectly suited to my role as a newly registered nurse. My time working in residential care homes has deepened my understanding of patient care, particularly in creating a warm, supportive environment for residents. I thrive in multi-disciplinary teams and am passionate about delivering exceptional care. My strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with excellent time-management, ensure I approach every situation with discretion and confidentiality.
As a mature candidate and a parent, I bring a wealth of life experience, patience, and empathy to my nursing practice. Balancing the responsibilities of raising children has honed my ability to manage time effectively, adapt quickly, and solve problems creatively. I am committed to providing high-quality care that makes a positive impact on the well-being of every patient I encounter.
During my time as a Student Nurse, I developed a strong foundation in patient care. I had the opportunity to work within diverse clinical settings, enhancing my ability to adapt to different environments and patient needs. My student experience has included several acute hospital wards, emergency department, a community hospital, a GP practice placement, and my elective placement which was in the dermatology outpatient department at Gloucester Royal Hospital.
My most recent placement was an 18-week experience on an elective neurosurgical ward at Southmead Hospital. During this time, I applied the skills I had developed throughout my three years of nurse training. This placement allowed me to further refine a broad range of clinical and interpersonal skills, which enabled me to contribute effectively as part of a nursing team whilst also working independently when required. Some skills that I have achieved are highlighted below.
