As a full time parent I took care of my autistic and ADHD son who as a child had complex and challenging behaviours, as well as having a second child in 2007.

My focus for years was being a good parent to my children and ensuring they felt loved and protected.

I worked alone or with a kitchen assistant to ensure meals were carefully prepared to cater for different dietary needs, providing well balanced and multiple choice meals.

I would do stock checks on foods needed on shopping orders and rotate foods to ensure freshness at all times.

I would learn dietary requirements to ensure residents had well balanced meals to suit their diet and palate.

I would interact regularly with residents to discuss meals and to keep them company during quiet times.
