Summary

Personal Profile: Over 24 years extensive experience working with disadvantaged young people and families within the public and charitable sector. Currently employed as an Education Officer within the Youth Justice Service, supporting young people aged 10 - 18 to engage and participate in education, training, and employment. Looking to change careers to a more flexible way of working but that still involves working with children in some capacity. Skilled at engaging young people and also in developing networks of employers and education providers to maximise the opportunities that young people can access. Regularly contribute to assessments within Youth Justice and advocate on behalf of children and their families by liaising with the Special Education Needs team by initiating the assessment process if a child needs an Education, Health and Care Plan. Have a solid understanding of the full EHCP process. Fully aware of the importance of the right support being in place at periods such as the transition from secondary to post 16 and the impact this can have if an educational setting is not identified or appropriate support is not in places. Created many bespoke packages for challenging students with SEN and those without and secured funding to secure an education provision. Fully aware of the financial pressures that schools and local authorities are under. In my current role I work with children and families that are often in crisis and adept at responding effectively to meet their needs. Computer literate and a fast learner so feel confident that I would be able to quickly learn new systems. Excellent time management skills and can prioritise my workload to best meet the needs of children, families and business needs. One of my biggest strengths is having a warm and welcoming personality and having the ability to relate well to people from all walks of life . Aspiring Family Support Worker seeks opportunity to assist children and young adults with achieving their potential. Works holistically to provide multi-level support to parents, families and peers. Engages participants through relationship-building and supportive communication to increase positive outcomes.
