Currently employed as an Education Officer within the Youth Justice Service, supporting young people aged 10 - 18 to engage and participate in education, training, and employment. Looking to change careers to a more flexible way of working but that still involves working with children in some capacity. Skilled at engaging young people and also in developing networks of employers and education providers to maximise the opportunities that young people can access. Regularly contribute to assessments within Youth Justice and advocate on behalf of children and their families by liaising with the Special Education Needs team by initiating the assessment process if a child needs an Education, Health and Care Plan. Fully aware of the importance of the right support being in place at periods such as the transition from secondary to post 16 and the impact this can have if an educational setting is not identified or appropriate support is not in places. Created many bespoke packages for challenging students with SEN and those without and secured funding to secure an education provision.
