- Read and interpreted architectural floorplans to identify key locations that would need a drainage system installed
- Determined the optimal position of a drainage pipe to minimize disruption and comfort to the occupants
- Gained experience using CAD-style software to edit 2D diagrams, including removing unnecessary layers to create clear black-on-white plan views
- Learned how drainage pipes must be designed with a sufficient gradient to ensure proper flow toward manholes
- Visited an active construction site with a building services designer to observe a design review meeting with contractors, learning how builders and designers collborate
