Hello, I'm Qira and this is just a bit about me.
I am a focused Technical Assistant at The University of Staffordshire, equipped with plethora of technical knowledge and experience to handle a huge range of Cameras (for courses such as Film Studies and Photography) and other relative equipment. I am dependable in completing new Camera and Sound technology installations, maintenance and repair work of our equipment. I always strive for an impeccable standard of Student Service - aiming for total student inclusion and giving them a place where they feel comfortable to ask the "silly questions".
I have attained qualifications in Mental Health and Emergency First Aid.
I voluntarily coach the university's cheerleading team "Staffordshire Scarlettes" - we are National Champions at both Level 1 and Level 2. With this I am a qualified coach at level 2. - arguably, this is my biggest achievement!
My role at The Henrion Media Centre requires me to provide exemplary service to our students on lens-based courses (not limited to), with a sound knowledge and understanding of the equipment that they require to fulfil their course requirements.
An example of this would be: Providing technical instruction to Photography Students, looking to hire out any of our Nikon Stills Cameras. Basically, showing them the ins and outs of the camera, what accessories are available to them, and are relevant to their projects.
In doing this, this helped me achieve maximum student satisfaction by offering tailored and consistent service. The results of this can be found in our National Student Survey results.
My team and I feel that we have built strong rapport with our students during our service and transactions, helping to capture individual personality by engaging with them on a one-to-one basis; truly getting to understand them and what gets their creative flow going!
Part of my role requires identifying and diagnosing equipment failures and performance issues; seeing if any issues that arise are repairable in-house or require sending off to an out of office repair centre.
Additional notes from within my role:
I am the technician who is in charge up setting up the Dark Room; this includes (but not limited to) - chemistry viability testing, setting out the appropriate chemistry for photographic development, facilitating chemical disposal and electronic testing.
I am the Sports Journalism Photographer for the University of Staffordshire's sports teams. I have done countless outdoor shoots and also shoots in our Virtual Production Suite and Photography Studios.
I am proficient in Photoshop, Light Room & Microsoft Office.
