Team leader responsibilities included, managing staff, representing team in management meetings, delegating tasks, resolving issues, organising team objectives, strategy and vision. Intranet/Web Consultant role includes, usage of agreed tools, templates and standards to create complex, well designed and engineered web pages, and Intranet tools with specified content and layout. Liaising with users/departments to jointly develop ideas for page design and content availability. Usage of applications to make finished Intranet media available on the Intranet, while taking into account company policies and standards. In addition to these mandatory tasks, further ad-hoc or optional tasks are carried out. These tasks range from installing applications on the Intranet server to Netscape Web Server administration. The role also requires continual training in new and advanced tools and techniques.
Customer Systems Support Analyst responsibilities included, entity account management (Managed 18 Entities/Countries within the Europe and Africa Region), project management, development/configuration, deployment and support of the Internet based application, DHL Connect International, which is used by customers to book shipments online. Other responsibilities include, creating, deploying and supporting upgrade patch files for DHL Connect, patches are created using an application called NetPatch. Internet development skills and a good understanding of HTML is also needed, as all tutorials for DHL Connect are in web-page format and need changing regularly for all countries within the region. Day to day work is also carried out on the department website, updating spreadsheets, adding new features and maintaining the support FAQ's. Daily monitoring of servers was also undertaken within the Unix and Informix environments. Efforts made within the customer access team, were highlighted with a trip to DHL's APIS office, in KL (Malaysia) to take part in DHL's first global product user acceptance test for a new DHL customer end application.
