For the last four years I have been an HGV driver, mainly for Serco. Before this I was at my previous company for 26 years, starting out as a machine operator and finishing as department manager of two departments. I achieved this through hard work and a thirst or knowledge, working on my own or in a team to achieve the end result.
I consider myself as reliable and trust worthy and not afraid to step up when required. I believe communication is key to success in achieving goals.
I feel I am an approachable person with a good personality and very motivational
My role in this job was to assist in the development of SWP/SOP in their new site development
As department manager of two departments which consisted of 4 shifts with 16 men on each shift, one of my many responsibilities was to ensure each shift was fully manned in order to achieve optimal production from each department. I also had to ensure each staff member was trained for the appropriate role and understood the safe operation of machinery, this included delivering tool box talks and SOP.
During this role I undertook management and supervisory training. I completed the IOSH managing safely training. I also completed the COSHH training, risk assessment training, dynamic risk assessment training and on site work permit training.
I held the morning meetings with the shift supervisors to ensure everyone understood the days operational tasks. I was also involved in disciplinary and investigation process.
I obtained this role from years of hard work with the company, starting out as machine operator working my way up to shift supervisor in charge of 8 operatives. This enabled me to get man management skills early on in my journey to become department manager.
Through the years I managed to obtain a vast amount of skills and training, these are,
IOSH
COSHH
Risk assessment
Man management
Ladder inspection
Working at heights training
Forklift truck licence
Site work permit training
Manual handling
First Aid
