I am a dedicated professional Fire Officer of over 29 years experience. As Station Commander for Motherwell and Carluke Fire Stations, I support my Area Commander by leading a dynamic team of over sixty Firefighters and Station based Watch Officers, covering both urban and rural environments, incorporating different duty systems. I manage a complex risk portfolio that includes road and rail infrastructure, COMAH sites, sports stadia and critical National Infrastructure Facilities, located within Multiple Areas of Deprivation.
I am a highly motivated Individual, who possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills. This has resulted in me attaining high leadership qualities which allow me to direct, develop, lead and motivate my staff.

I was the National Officer Secretary for the Fire Brigades Union. My main duties and responsibilities were as follows
· Leading a team of Senior Officer Officials with the responsibility of the day to day running of the Officers Sectional National Committee
· Lead Senior representative official for the National Joint Council Middle Managers Negotiating Board
· Lead Representative Official for the National Employers Inclusive Fire Service Group
· Lead Sectional Official on the National Joint Council Technical Work Groups
· Lead Sectional Official to NFCC Officer Work Streams
· Lead Sectional Official to Local, National and Devolved administrations.
· Working collaboratively in partnership with SFRS and UK Local Authority Fire & Rescue Services to develop Policy and procedure for Middle Managers.
