Summary

I am a dedicated professional Fire Officer of over 29 years experience. As Station Commander for Motherwell and Carluke Fire Stations, I support my Area Commander by leading a dynamic team of over sixty Firefighters and Station based Watch Officers, covering both urban and rural environments, incorporating different duty systems. I manage a complex risk portfolio that includes road and rail infrastructure, COMAH sites, sports stadia and critical National Infrastructure Facilities, located within Multiple Areas of Deprivation.

I am a highly motivated Individual, who possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills. This has resulted in me attaining high leadership qualities which allow me to direct, develop, lead and motivate my staff.

I have a strong commitment to the Service's values of Safety, Teamwork, Respect and Innovation, which are uppermost in my thoughts when considering any actions or tasks. I am a strong advocate for workplace diversity and strive to foster a positive inclusive organisational culture.

I am deeply committed to Firefighter safety by promoting a safety culture through consistent communication and inspection processes, both within the station and Operational environment.

I seek imbed a positive learning culture within my team, by allowing them to take control of their development through the appraisal process and imparting on them the skills knowledge and experience which I have gained throughout my career.

My career profile to date includes roles within a world leading Fire & Rescue Service, specifically within the field of Service Delivery. In addition I have vast experience in working in partnership with Fire & Rescue Services and National and devolved Governments to develop Policy that supports genuine transformation of UK Fire & Rescue Services.

Station Commander

I am currently a Station Commander within the Lanarkshire LSO Area and I am responsible for the successful management of Motherwell and Carluke Fire Stations.

My additional responsibilities include.


· Management of Operational Incidents.

· Management & Oversight of the Lanarkshire LSO Personnel Portfolio.

· Effective Management of Motherwell and Carluke Fire Stations.

· Management and Implementation of the Area On Call Improvement & Engagement Strategy.

· Management of Services Service Strategic Review Programme for Lanarkshire LSO Area.

· Area lead for the consultation, Implementation and engagement strategy for the closure of Leadhills Community Fire Station

· Provide direction and support to Watch Commanders to ensure effective delivery of the Local Area plan and demand reduction strategies

Development of local station based officers with regards to People Management and Leadership and development culture.

· Local partnership engagement and the fostering of longstanding professional relationships.
