Work history

Network Officer

First Glasgow
Glasgow, Glasgow City
11.2021 - Current
  • In 2021, I returned to the Glasgow business and by that time the Omnibus software was succeeded by Optibus which allowed me to explore more options to improve on Duty efficiency.
  • I have since further developed my scheduling skills by creating steady rosters on 8-week cycles for the depots that I have been assigned.
  • In 2023, Prospective FlowOS, an AI timetabling system, was introduced to the business.
  • FlowOS has the technology to generate historical running time data to allow me to optimise revised timetables.
  • The main objective from FlowOS is to achieve an On-Time-Performance score of 85% at Timing Point level on every route that has been optimised.

Scheduler / Network Officer

First Scotland East
Larbert
08.2008 - 11.2021
  • As a scheduler, I'm responsible for timetable production, compiling registration documents, bus and crew scheduling within the First Scotland East Network.
  • I also track routes on a mapping device to allow me to produce files for ticket machines and Real Time passenger information systems.
  • My everyday work involves using BusTracs for crew duty scheduling and the Omnibus package for bus scheduling, timetable production and tracking routes.
  • One of the biggest projects I've worked on is the August 2018 network review for West Lothian, Falkirk and Stirling.
  • This is the most comprehensive review to take place for a number of years.
  • The emphasis behind the review is to provide quicker journey times and improved or simplified frequencies to three of the largest towns within our network.
  • On certain corridors, services are coordinated to provide journeys at frequent intervals.

Bus Stop Information Officer

First Glasgow / First Scotland East
Glasgow
07.2000 - 08.2008
  • In this role, I produced timetable information using the OmniStop program to be displayed on bus stop cases throughout all of First Glasgow's operating area, Edinburgh and The Lothians for First Scotland East.
  • All of the stops served and populated with information are recorded on a database.
  • This role has allowed me to build up a vast geographical knowledge which has paid dividends in my current position.
  • I also liaised on a regular basis and enjoyed a good working relationship with external organisations such as Strathclyde Partnership For Transport and various local authorities.
