Watch Commander B - Fire Safety Team Leader

Team Leader in the Birmingham Team and am currently the Team leader for the Birmingham BSV officers and deal with all Birmingham's fire safety Referrals and Complaints.

Monitor Accidental Non Domestic fires and False Alarm Equipment looking for trends or if in exception. Direct the work of the BSV officer to target these areas and inform operations for Safe and Strong visits and false alarm reduction work alongside the BSV officers.

Direct the business education and engagement work taking place with a focus around NFCC campaigns and working with Business Improvement Districts.

Watch Commander A - Fire Safety Inspecting Officer

As a competent Fire Safety Officer I arrange and complete routine audits of high risk premises, respond to fire safety incidents, including prohibitions, respond to referrals and complaints and support operational colleagues.

I am also a Technical fire safety officer dealing with license applications, attending Safety Advisory Groups for events and completing petrol and firework inspections.

I work to support operation colleagues with fire safety advice and training.

Temporary position covering long term sickness. During my time in charge I increased the numbers of Safe and Wells completed per quarter, achieved the SSRI target constantly, planned MRT sessions to support completion of standardised assessments and planned exercises. I developed trainee firefighters, set up successful safe and well referral pathways and attended Ward meetings where I meet community groups. This helped identify ways we could work together including putting up a Speed Indication Device on a problem road.

I was deployed to Haiti as part of the UK humanitarian response to the 2010 earthquake. I have been involved with training local Fire fighters in Tanzania where my knowledge of Kiswahili was extremely beneficial. During this time I received the Chief Fire Officers commendation for humanitarian work.

I deployed on a live firing exercise in the United States, followed by an arduous winter mountain training in Scotland. I then completed a jungle training package in Belize and deployed to Kosovo on Operation Agricola a NATO led tour of duty. I was then drafted to RM Stonehouse as part of the Security Troop.
