Company Overview:

FP McCann are the largest precast concrete producers in the UK and have 7 locations in NI, with contracts in Civils, Surfacing and Railways

• Work involved supervising of jobs carried out through small-scale, minor works and major asphalt resurfacing frameworks contracts for the Department For Infrastructure (DFI), as well as private civils and surfacing works.
• Marking up and setting out heights for excavation, drainage, kerbing and surfacing works in accordance with design drawings provided from the client and detailing these to workers and sub-contractors.
• Carrying out monthly measures of work done on site to invoice the DFI or private companies. With up to 14 measures to complete at the end of any given month, I quantified work done through priced items, materials used and accounted for labour and machinery hours of agreed day works.

• As a summer placement I put practical skills to work, designing projects on AutoCAD, working on the manufacture of the components or structural frames in the workshop
• This involved the cutting and welding of steel, galvanising or painting, right through to the fitting and erecting of the final products on site.

• This role involved working as part of a team of security staff to ensure that the bar was safe for customers and workers
• Skills involved managing people so that the bar was always a friendly, welcoming environment

Company Overview:

Main dealership in Ireland for Hitachi diggers, Thwaites dumpers, Bomag rollers and McCloskey International screeners and crushers

• As a plant technician, the job involved working in an engineering workshop in the main dealership in Ireland for Hitachi diggers, Thwaites dumpers, Bomag rollers and McCloskey International screeners and crushers, work involved the setting up, maintenance and service of these machines
• In this workplace I picked up many transferable skills in working with hydraulics, electrics, engines, pumps, and steel fabrication as well as some work on diggers with Rototilt hitches and Trimble GPS systems

• Here I gained valuable experience working on sites, fitting septic tanks and drains, digging and pouring foundations as well as landscaping gardens.
