Peter Long

I am a driven Biomedical Science Msci Graduate from the University of Sussex, eager to further advance my knowledge and skills. From my degree I have gained strong research, communication and critical thinking skills and developed attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize information. I am eager to learn, good with people and an effective communicator and worker. I am seeking to maintain a full-time position that offers professional challenges utilizing my knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• I have lived the majority of my life as an expatriate due to my Fathers profession. Living in 5 different countries during my lifetime has afforded me a degree of open-mindedness to new ideas and ways of thinking, the ability to acquire new knowledge quickly as well as a high level of adaptability and flexibility in unfamiliar situations.
• I worked on a project exploring the importance of WD40 protein domains and how they impact human health when mutated for my dissertation in the 3rd year of my degree. I carried out extensive research, analyzed and critiqued papers to create and presented a solo presentation on the protein domains leading to the writing and completion of a full paper on the research.
• I worked as a member of Dr. Neil Crickmore’s lab for my master’s project in 4th year. I collaborated on work with other members of the laboratory as well as designing and implementing my own individual experiments. Over the 6 month period I developed a series of methods for purifying samples of four Cry proteins leading to viable samples for analysis in the European XFEL laboratory . The project allowed me to demonstrate the skills I have acquired in addition to providing opportunity to improve upon and learn new skills.
