Given the opportunity I would provide direction for the team, ensuring they know how their role/actions make positive impacts on the business. Focus resources to meet targets. And develop skills (both my own and the teams) to ensure technical function in a way that meet the needs of the ever changing business environment.
Non-silo working is essential. There should always be a close link with Commercial as decisions made can have profound effect, but just as important are the relationships with Land, Sales and Customer Care. to achieve this I'd encourage the team to liaise with other departments and to see things from another persons point of view.
I'd like to continue developing the relationships with Group and Senior Management. Seek opportunities to further improve the efficiencies of the technical team. Ensure best practices are followed over quick fixes. And ensure strong communication both to the technical team and the senior management.
