PPG Aerospace is a global business producing, filling and distributing coatings and sealants globally.

I have been in the team lead role for 3 years and was a cell leader before that.

My role includes the co ordination of daily operations for a team of 25 people. This can be the release of picklists and identifying priority orders along with monitoring KPIs and target deadlines. Delegating resources, costing and process improvements to continually do better tomorrow then we did today.

We use Oracle, workday, softworks and GS2 software in our daily operations.

I have Dangerous Goods experience incorporating the handling, storage and distribution thereof.

In my role I have shown high efficiency in problem solving and project management receiving great recognition and praise. I have developed a good understanding of people skills and perform many HR functions, 1to1s, target setting and reviews etc.

I have experience in EHS implementation and investigations along with LEAN and 5S principles.

I am regularly a participant in senior management meetings where I can communicate strongly and appreciate other departmental needs and work cohesively in achieving progress.

Having worked myself up from shop floor to cell lead and now Team lead I have a genuine understanding of the demands of my team and how to best motivate and achieve success.

Vehicle Body Technician

Spraytech North East
Darlington
02.2008 - 12.2013

This was a small family run Bodyshop with only myself, the owner and 1 other employee. It was a very well respected business and the workload was massive. I would perform all the duties from estimates, repairs, prep and painting of car body defects and accident damage. Here we worked long hours and customer satisfaction was paramount alongside the financial obligations aof not being a large business so cost management was vital. I enjoyed the face to face contact with customers and the feeling of being a crucial cog in the operations. Sadly the owner developed ill health and the company stopped trading.

Industrial roofer and cladder.

Self Employed
Nationwide
07.2003 - 02.2008
  • Followed blueprints accurately, delivered projects as per client specifications.
  • Maintained clean work areas to minimise hazards.
  • Performed strenuous physical activities such as heavy lifting in adverse conditions

I went into business with a friend where we installed roof and wall sheeting and cladding. This is a demanding and highly skilled trade where we worked all over the UK building a wide variety of commercial and industrial buildings. The business grew and we had a team of 8 by the time I found working away was a conflict with family life and decided to go back to the motor trade upon the birth of my 1st child.

Panel Beater Painter an sprayer.

Shildon
10.1998 - 05.2004
  • Performed final finishing and polishing to achieve meticulous appearance of finished vehicles.
  • Took part in ongoing training programmes; enhanced skills and knowledge about panel beating techniques.
  • Created a safe working environment, verifying equipment used was operated in accordance with safety standards.
  • Assisted in estimating costs for repairs, resulting in accurate quotes for customers.

After leaving School I completed a 5 year apprenticeship in vehicle body repairs. I did both panel and paint sectors where most apprenticeships are 1 or the other. In my role as well as the obvious skills learnt I also gained a strong work ethic and the importance of attention to detail that I feel a trade requires. Often people don't have direct consequence of inferior work however in this trade there is no room for error as any imperfections are quickly noticed and can have hugely detrimental financial and competency impacts on ones self and the business.

I achieved a City And Guilds level 3 qualification upon completion.
