Hello my name is Paul and I would like to introduce myself to you. I am a 40 year old family man with a range of skills and experience that I have collected over the years as a business IT / Business person. I believe in honesty and loyalty in every walk of life and like to carry this into any job I do.
I would like to describe myself as a lovable, responsible, caring person with a cheeky edge.
I will openly admit my skills are largely self taught or through experience in the workplace over the 20 odd years in the industry, so if you want someone with a degree I am not your man. I am, however, always learning and expanding / developing myself, and this will always be the case.
I hope you will consider me for the role I have applied for.
This role was very varied and spanned across the entire business. Upon joining the business had been dormant for several years after the owners wife had been ill and then sadly passed away. I was brought in to try to revive the business. Touching on all areas of the business including accounts, purchasing and marketing, this was a challenging and diverse role.
20 hours per week.
Delivered over 10,000 parcels over this period with almost perfect score most of the time.
Restarted videography business while working part time on other jobs. Slowly building this business up again.
This role included a range of senior tasks including managing 5 websites including 4 retail and 1 B2B sites and a small IT/Marketing team. On the IT side of the business I was in charge of the department which supported 2 sites in Leominster (Warehouses and offices), 1 site in Wexford Southern Ireland and 2 sites in Northern America. This included organising meetings with the owners of the business and allocating tasks out to internal staff and external companies, as required. The retail eCommerce side of the business gave me experience in Magento built sites and the B2B side of the business gave me experience in a smaller privately developed format called Cloudfy. This included front end work, back end work and development work directly on servers and Cloud platforms. The skills on the IT side of the business included most parts of the IT industry, from basic Windows tasks, through to printers and scanners and user interaction all the way through to set up and organising more in depth things like server setup and maintenance, Cloud platforms, Network infrastructures, GDPR rules and regulations, ERP systems, Accounting and payroll systems, VPN/S2SVPN setup and maintenance, Google Drive, Google Groups, DNS configuration, Microsoft products such as 365, Microsoft Dynamics, SFTP/FTP systems, Disaster recover plans, Fire marshalling / Fire drill running, Health & Safety office, Major incident protocol design and implementation and many more over the years.
This role was an IT manager role, mostly described above, but without the Ecommerce side of the business.
In my early 30s I decided I wanted to buy my own house, and needed a way to do it. Off the back of the charity work I did with the Adam Millichip Foundation, I learnt some basic videography skills, so I decided to set up my own business filming weddings. Initially I was not sure how well this would go but did it anyway. After doing some cheap or free weddings the word started to get around locally and lead to multiple "Word of mouth" bookings including a chain of 4 weddings leading for 1 where 3 of the 4 bookings attended the first wedding. I was surprised that after almost 4 years I had not only paid off debts but I had sourced my own professional kit for the business along with about £15,000 to purchase my own house. Along the way I had travelled across most of the UK, Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland and Cyprus. I felt it was real personal achievement to do this while holding down a full time and demanding job. I consider this one of my best achievements so far in life.
