After completing the B&Q Aspire Programme, learning new skills to develop further, I achieved my first manager position in April 2016. Over the years I have worked in various management positions across the Glasgow region, some short term to gain experience in different area's. As manager my responsibilities involve the running of my team and the wider store as a duty manager including rota management, team development, meeting sales targets and problem solving for our customers when issues arise. Safety is paramount, this includes the safe operation of our warehouse area in accordance with the vehicle movement plan as we operate 7.5t vehicles, hiab vehicles, forklift trucks and powered pallet trucks in a busy environment as well as timber saw. To ensure all procedures are followed I observe behaviours in this area and correct/coach the team when required. Checks carried out weekly on fire alarms and doors. Safe locking of store and all moneys stored away in safe. Delivering daily team briefs to ensure my team knows their tasks for the day with clear expectations set.
