Accomplishments

Over the last two years I’ve been given the district award for Most Outstanding Technician. It’s voted on by people across the district, so it meant a lot because it came directly from the people I work with every day. Below are some of the comments my peers put forward when they nominated me:

  • “He is my go‑to person for Worldship issues, has been a great help.”
  • “Always helpful attitude.”
  • “Hard to choose just one nomination as reasons apply to multiple techs, but Paul has been exceptional in answering enquiries, especially involving complications with Worldship. Gives full, precise answers and is never condescending regardless of the complex nature of the enquiry.”
  • “Paul is always on hand to help troubleshoot Worldship and any other issue.”
  • “When Paul finds new knowledge, he shares with everyone.”

I’m not someone who shouts about awards, but this shows the way I work. I try to be approachable, clear, and helpful, and I make sure people get proper answers instead of quick guesses. If I learn something new, I share it so everyone benefits. That’s the same attitude I’d bring to Caterpillar — supporting people properly, keeping systems running, and helping wherever I can.

Relavant Experience

I worked as a Production Associate at Land Rover Solihull from 1994 to 1999, and that’s where I first got proper manufacturing experience. Everything there depended on strict sequences and getting things right, so you had to follow the process exactly. My first job was running the carburising furnace manually, which meant keeping to the correct order and timings. After that I moved into the machine shop, milling gearbox components, and later I ended up on the track fitting engine parts and interior components. Working across those areas taught me how production lines run and how important accuracy and consistency are. So following testing steps and support procedures is something I’ve been used to since back then.
