
Senior Aviation Operations Manager with 17+ years’ experience delivering safe, compliant, and high‑performance airside operations at a major UK hub airport. Proven leader across Operations and De‑icing, with full accountability for workforce planning, budget management, and monthly financial reporting. • Ensuring safety and security procedures are according to standards set within the Menzies Health & Safety Policy Manual, and according to international aviation standards.
• Oversee and ensure effective, appropriate and structured staff meetings take place on a regular basis.
• Ensuring investigations take place by the team into any incident/accident, non-conformity or service delivery failure, with effective route cause analysis and corrective, preventative and follow up actions are in place and maintained.
• Ensure there is an effective risk assessment on existing SOP’s, including any amendments or changes to procedures or new initiatives.
• Oversee, review and ensure all operational policies and procedures are feasible, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Take an active part in the recruitment process for all staff to ensure the right person is in the right place at the right time.
• Plan, develop and implement strategy for staff training and development, oversee appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of staff training, coaching and development.
• Actively encourage that effective performance processes are in place for staff, ensuring adequate and sufficient one to one time is given to the staff members.
• Assess relevant training needs for department employees including assessment methods and measurement systems.
• Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health & safety, employment and equality laws.
• Monitoring performance of key customer service indicators, identify gaps, plan and resource effectively to fill them, including contingency planning.
• Accountable for ongoing day to day management to their own approved business plan.
• Improving delivery of Menzies Aviation products and services through developing a motivated and skilled team.
• Budgetary control, ensuring effective and efficient labour utilization, whilst also actively controlling all departmental costs.

• Ensuring that daily SMART inspections take place in all areas of the operation including but not limited to:
✓ Aircraft turnaround
✓ Service Level Agreements
✓ Safety/equipment
✓ Uniform standards
• Ensuring you and your team are trained and up to date with the Human Resource processes so they are consistently adhered to.
• Work with airport suppliers & handlers to ensure prescribed levels of service at agreed standards are delivered.
• Oversee the set up and maintenance of employee personnel files to the required standard.
• Oversee the department monthly payroll in a timely manner, including overtime, bonus, step-up pay, deductions and other ad-hoc payments and ensure they are processed accordingly.
• Ensure that the department consistently processes all new starter, leaver, increase/decrease in hours and salary or job title changes, complete necessary paperwork, update personnel database, issue new employment contracts and submit changes to head office.
• Ensure the department records all sickness data for SSP purposes, calculate and process any sick pay deductions in accordance with company’s sick pay policy. Create and send sickness deduction letters accordingly.
• Ensure all staff are given the necessary tools and equipment to carry out their jobs to the best of their ability.
• Resolve issues with TUs and inform/consult/negotiate when appropriate, in a solution-oriented manner, and to drive departmental improvements.
• Create a compelling departmental vision for the future and, through face-to-face communication, engage all colleagues to commit to and deliver the changes required.
• Responsible for the management of contingency plans in the event of disruption.
• Manage and coordinate stationery and office supplies.
• Ensure a positive and clean working environment is upheld.
• Orientates the Operations department around company values and puts them into practice.
