I'm Osama, an IMG with nearly 2 years of NHS clinical experience, currently working as an RMO (PGY2) doctor at PAH-Harlow. I Graduated with Honours in MBBS from China, placing first in my cohort, and have since built a robust foundation in Emergency Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, Cardiology, ICU, Geriatrics, and Paediatrics. I hold ALS and NLS certification and am Eligible for AHPRA registration via the Competent Authority Pathway.
My clinical experience is centred around the management of acutely unwell patients in high-pressure settings, including active involvement in trauma calls, MET responses, and medical admissions. I am skilled in a range of core procedures such as arterial and venous access, lumbar puncture, NG tube insertion, Suprapubic and urethral catheterisation, joint reductions, and wound closure. I apply ALS protocols during peri-arrest care and contribute confidently to multidisciplinary team-based decision-making.
I am now seeking to relocate to Australia to pursue Basic Physician Training, with a long-term goal of specialising in Nephrology. My motivation stems from a strong interest in internal medicine, renal physiology, and the long-term care of complex medical patients. I am committed to combining evidence-based medicine, research, and teaching in a setting that supports both patient-centred care and service innovation.
• Managed paediatric presentations across A&E, general paediatrics, and postnatal care: febrile convulsions, asthma exacerbations, viral gastroenteritis, neonatal jaundice, and sepsis
• Performed neonatal assessments, newborn physical exams (NIPE), lumbar punctures under supervision, and paediatric venepuncture
• Participated in daily SCBU ward rounds, assisted with CPAP setup, NG tube placements, and fluid balance monitoring
• Gained confidence in safeguarding reporting, developmental screening (Ages & Stages), and mental health presentations in adolescents
• Prescribed weight-adjusted medications including IV antibiotics, fluid boluses, antipyretics, and bronchodilators
• Participated in paediatric simulation scenarios and child protection MDT meetings
• Independently assessed and triaged a high volume of undifferentiated presentations: major trauma, sepsis, chest pain, abdominal pain, overdose, stroke, and psychiatric crises
• Performed procedural skills including: venous cutdowns, joint dislocations, urethral catheterisation (male/female/SPC), wound debridement and suturing, abscess drainage, and backslab application
• Worked in resuscitation bays managing peri-arrest patients using ALS principles; performed A→E assessments and collaborated with anaesthetics for airway control and intubation
• Interpreted trauma X-rays, chest X-rays, FAST scans under supervision, and completed eReferrals for admissions and specialty input
• Completed DNACPR discussions, safety netting, and risk documentation using SBAR and eCARE
• Liaised with ED consultants for risk stratification and rapid discharge vs admission decisions
• Managed CCU and step-down patients with NSTEMI, STEMI, decompensated heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-PCI complications
• Interpreted serial ECGs, cardiac enzymes, and echocardiograms under supervision
• Gained experience managing AF (rate/rhythm control), bradycardia, and cardiac syncope, escalating to pacing where indicated
• Prescribed heart failure medications, anti-platelets, statins, anticoagulants, and monitored for adverse effects
• Supported the acute chest pain unit in risk stratification of troponin-negative ACS and myocarditis
• Participated in DC cardioversion lists, telemetry reviews, and MDT rounds involving echo technicians and interventional cardiologists
• Rotated between high-dependency and acute medical wards, managing patients with respiratory failure, septic shock, DKA, upper GI bleeds, and ACS
• Assisted in escalation protocols for NEWS ≥7 including MET responses, initiating 15L O2 via NRB, fluid boluses, and empirical IV antibiotics within the Sepsis 6 framework
• Observed arterial line placement and central venous catheter insertion; assisted with sedation and bag-valve-mask ventilation
• Gained experience in acid-base interpretation, insulin sliding scale management, IV diuretic regimes, and initiating CPAP for type 2 respiratory failure
• Attended post-take rounds, supported by acute physicians, implementing management plans and liaising with specialist services for complex patients
• Involved in advanced discharge documentation, TEP/CPR discussions, and escalation of deteriorating patients to ICU
• Delivered comprehensive care for complex, multimorbid elderly patients presenting with delirium, falls, frailty syndromes, and polypharmacy-related issues.
• Regularly contributed to consultant-led ward rounds, optimising antihypertensives, anticoagulants, insulin, and psychotropics in the context of renal and cognitive decline
• Led the clerking of new admissions with acute confusion, dehydration, and functional deterioration
• Performed and interpreted ECGs, ABGs, venepuncture, IV cannulation, and bladder catheterisation
• Initiated and titrated IV fluids, antibiotics, LMWHs, and anticipatory medications for EOL care
• Coordinated multidisciplinary discharge planning involving physio, OT, SALT, and community geriatrics
• Developed a ward-based QIP on structured frailty scoring and falls documentation compliance
