Core Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to my Designer Responsibilities, I:

  • Act as de‑facto manager during manager’s absence (including extended sickness period), overseeing day‑to‑day WIP and workload planning by balancing team capacity, individual skills, development needs and regulatory timeframes to ensure consistent delivery.
  • Supported performance management through coaching, conflict resolution and assignment of appropriate work, creating development opportunities for designers while maintaining productivity, quality and compliance across team.
  • Led and embedded change management within team, driving transition to documented customer journey adherence and MCCSS requirements, while managing customer escalations, investigating low survey scores and restoring service confidence.
  • Maintained accountability for commercial control by overseeing costs, identifying overspends, managing variations and ensuring transparent communication with customers and stakeholders to protect both regulatory and financial outcomes
  • Use reporting tools including SAP and Power Bi for overview of overall individual and team performance

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop standard-compliant LV and HV design solutions for new connections, diversions and network extensions, producing clear drawings and full design packs for customers and delivery teams.
  • Deliver excellent end to end customer experience while maintaining compliance with GSOP, LC12 and UKPN design and charging standards.
  • Manage and evidence LC12 and GSOP compliance through accurate, consistent recording of customer communications across corporate systems.
  • Prepare robust design documentation and work packs, including NetMap drawings, DRAs, FCAF reports, HEMLs, earthing designs and technical consistency checks.
  • Produce accurate cost estimates for diversionary and reinforcement works, including substations, link boxes and LV/HV cabling.
  • Experienced in using Win début LV network modelling tool used to assess voltage, impedance and fault levels, ensuring statutory and design compliance for new and altered connections.
  • Work closely with Field Engineers, Lead Design Engineers, Network Planners, OP&C and ART teams to ensure solutions are buildable, cost effective and delivered on programme.
  • Monitor delivery expenditure, review completed works, identify overspends and manage variations through transparent communication with internal teams and customers.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints in timely and transparent manner, ensuring regulatory obligations and service standards are met.
