To Whom It May Concern,

Re: Student Midwife Olivia Mellor's voluntary work for Baby Basics Liverpool

Liv contacted Baby Basics in February 2022 after collecting and delivering one of our Moses Basket Starter Packs for a vulnerable client. Having seen first-hand the challenges facing some of her clients, especially those dealing with safeguarding concerns or stuck in cycles of poverty, Liv was inspired to do more herself to support her clients with clothing and other essential items. She saw the impact our support gave to her clients, the relief that they had a safe, clean space for the child to sleep, and enough clothing and toiletries to get them started. Within weeks, Liv gathered a car boot load of clothing, toiletries and nappies from her family and trainee midwifery community, to help fill the starter packs at Baby Basics Liverpool. I was struck by her initiative, compassion, and industry in getting this support together so swiftly.

Liv continued to fundraise for and guide others to Baby Basics Liverpool, all whilst completing her studies. She is an excellent communicator and, as is common with her generation, is very comfortable using Social Media platforms for good purposes: she regularly posted about her collections, crediting those who gave and signposting to our Social Media pages.

I have been extremely impressed with her dedication to go above and beyond for the women and babies she cares for, and I'm sure her other references from her placements will indicate what a credit Liv will be to any workplace. Her warmth, compassion and diligence are remarkable qualities.

Pictures can say a thousand words, so here are a few below to demonstrate the support she provided.

Many thanks and well-done Liv, from all of us at Baby Basics Liverpool!

Kind regards,

Toria Clifton-Brown
