My experience across health and social care settings has equipped me with resilience, adaptability and communication which is essential for Army Nursing. I have supported Vulnerable adults and children In care homes, learning disability settings and worked in international placements which are unfamiliar environments and overcoming languages to make sure that i deliver compassionate and person-centred care. These roles allow me to strengthen my ability to stay calm under pressure, build trust and also remain professional and show empathy. These experiences have prepared me for becoming an Army Nurse were high-quality care is vital.
I have developed strong communication and interpersonal skills through my work in a busy chip shop, where I handled a wide range of responsibilities including customer service, cash handling, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Alongside this, I have gained extensive experience supporting vulnerable adults and children across health and social care settings. This includes three weeks in an adult day centre in Poland, where I adapted my communication style to meet the needs of residents despite language barriers, strengthening my ability to work sensitively and effectively in unfamiliar environments. I have also completed placements in care homes supporting individuals with dementia and other cognitive conditions, worked in a learning disability school, and volunteered in a primary school in Gambia, where I raised funds and provided essential educational supplies. These experiences have enabled me to work confidently with diverse groups of people and to respond to individual needs with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
