I have studied at college for 2 years to gain the skills required to be a bricklayer. I am very keen in the whole building trade in general, I want to work and learn a whole variety of skills. I am intelligent and I have always been good with my hands. What I really need right now is an opportunity where I can gain experience and become a real asset to anyone who will give me a chance to shine either in bricklaying or in the building trade in general.
Most recently, I have been doing casual work. e.g. I have removed render from walls and repaired ready for scratching and re-rendering, and I have rebuilt a brick pier that had fallen over on a front of house wall. This is all whilst looking for a more permanent opportunity to arise.
Did a wide range of jobs onsite gaining experience and updating my skill set on certain tools I wouldn't have used otherwise e.g. angle grinder, reciprocator, drills etc. and I also picked up knowlegde from other trades while I was there including carpet laying, tiles, adhesives, cutting and fitting plasterboard with adhesive and screws, fitting insulation and ripping out walls.
My first job, working on tills in the The Range and assisting around the store. I enjoyed gaining work experience and sharpening my communication skills dealing with the Public and in general.
