Oliver Sims

Weston-super-Mare,North Somerset

Summary

At 14 years old I completed my bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. Whilst completing this I developed skills in:

- Perseverance

- Teamwork

- Planning

- Communication

- Orienteering

- Cooking

I was also a member of Weston-super-Mare Police Cadets from the age of 14 to 16 years old. During this time I learned a lot about teamwork and I completed first aid training with them. I also completed renewal training every 3 months so that it stayed fresh in my mind. They also helped me to develop a lot of confidence as we had to stand up at the front and deliver a presentation to the rest of the police cadet unit in teams of 3 to 4.

When I was 8 years old I joined a local athletics group based in Priory school and quickly discovered I was a very fast runner. I was chosen to sprint in competitions and competed against many other people of my age. I also competed in other events such as long jump.

When I was 15 years old I joined the local beavers group as a young leader and have learned skills that have been mentioned earlier. I have also been taught first aid via them as well which means my first aid training is up to date with all the recent changes.
