Thanks to my previous customer service experience adapted to the new working environment very quickly. The unfamiliar user interface on the tills were very simple, the shop layout itself was small making the whereabouts of produce nice and easy, and my familiarity with age restricted products means I have never failed a secret shopper I.D checks.

I would describe working at One Stop as a mostly low stress working environment and rarely busy but this does not mean my awareness has dropped. With divisive action and efficient communication I have prevented many potential instances of shoplifting from previous offenders or suspicious costumers, break up heated confrontations between customers before it gets physical and most importantly being jumping to aid in sudden medical emergencies.

During my time working on the a bar I can share how I approach my job role as well as extra details that set my apart from any other employee.

My approach to serving drinks to customers I aim to get there drinks quickly without sacrificing quality. For example I will often pour two drinks at once, repeat their order to avoid mistakes and remembering previous costumers orders all the while really making costly mistakes. This has given me a reputation for being a very competent barman amongst the regular costumers. This does come at a small cost, that being I am slightly more forgettable than my colleagues.

When it comes to being a colleague to others I'm often the jack of all trades, when someone needs help of almost any kind I am able to assist and in situations where there is no management available I always step up to guide the staff due to my greater experience and ability to perform under lots of pressure.

I have acquired so much trust from my management I was made responsible of the entire arcade. I had to keep every machine stocked and working, put in reports to the engineers faults and the cash turnover report on the machines completely independently at the age of 17. And in preparation for the busy summer season I was responsible for training a new member of staff both the physical skills of arcade and the essential costumer service skills.

During my time as a waiter I learned everything there was to know about costumer service and work ethic in the hospitality industry by following in the steps of my manager. The second half of my first year A new manager came in and completely changed everything about the way we worked. I was the only one who did not quit or get in the way of the change but assist in the small ways that I could at the time. I earned his respect not only as an employee but as a person and he mentored me on work and life as a whole.

The most important thing I did during this time was take up the entirely new role of an arcade technician. I took on the role of resupplying tickets, prizes and temporary fixes to the machines. This allowed me to remove a large responsibility off of my manager onto myself.
