Projects

• Manufactured a functional lamp in a team of 4 using a variety of manufacturing techniques including: milling machine, lathe, laser cutter in addition to a CNC machine. Also designed the circuit using circuit wizard for the lamp including final assembly of electronic components.

Manufacture and assembly was delivered safely having reviewed potential hazards and problems that could arise including machine, environmental and human factors.

Familiarisation with COSHH was also required for safe product manufacture.

•Designed a tissue bioreactor in SolidWorks for bio/ biomedical engineering and tissue engineering applications. This included a complete engineering drawing, parts assembly and exploded drawing.

•Using 2D design software designed a three jaw self-centering lathe chuck to a professional standard as inspected by an industry senior.

This included precise measurements of every part of lathe chuck being drawn within 0.1mm error to a scale of 1/2:1 including borders and the drafting table according to industry standards.

•Led the planning and implementation of school events including an international evening and competitions. This required coordination between different school departments as well as management of tasks to make sure the event was delivered to the highest standard and on time.

Successfully Utilised material characterisation techniques such as: impact testing, Vickers hardness testing, tensile testing, SEM, light microscopy as well as polishing and etching to investigate crystal structure of low, medium and high carbon steel, copper, annealed copper as well as brass. Using information acquired from testing, produced a comprehensive report linking microstructure/grain to mechanical properties of these materials with a focus on different modes of failure as well as thermal and electrical properties.

• Currently conducting comprehensive failure analyses of critical aerospace components, applying advanced material testing and characterization techniques within an FMEA framework. Prepare and present clear, actionable reports that inform both legal and business decisions.
