Solent University
09.2022 - 05.2025
During my placement at Basingstoke Town FC, I assisted in the assessment and ongoing rehabilitation of a player with a Grade 2B hamstring strain. Working alongside the Head of Medical, I applied the RTA (Return to Activity) framework, helped progress the player through isometric loading, eccentric strengthening, and pitch-based reconditioning, and improved my clinical reasoning through regular re-evaluation and adaptation of the rehab plan. While on placement with Portchester Women’s FC, I was involved in managing a concussion incident during a match. Under supervision, I helped complete an immediate SCAT5 assessment, supported the player with sideline care, and contributed to the graduated return-to-play planning. This situation helped sharpen my emergency care skills, reinforced the importance of clear communication under pressure, and increased my awareness of safeguarding responsibilities in female sport.
In a previous marathon event, I treated a participant with a history of Achilles rupture. Working collaboratively with a colleague, we used friction massage and deep tissue techniques on the gastrocnemius and tendon to promote circulation, reduce tension, and enhance readiness for the event.
At the Bournemouth Beach Fest, I applied ankle taping techniques to a participant following an acute inversion incident. This intervention helped provide immediate structural support and allowed safe participation while also reinforcing my taping skills and clinical decision-making under event pressure.
