I am eager to gain experience in the work environment and to better understand the opportunities for a future career.
I am a punctual and responsible student, having received acknowledgment for my attendance year on year. I work hard in the school environment, and have found my aptitude lies within subjects including design technology, business and maths. I am part of the Delamere small school at Crown Woods, which is the Grammar stream with the Academy. I have achieved this despite being tested as dyslexic.
My dyslexia pushes me to work extra hard towards a goal, but it has also awarded me the advantage of being focused and seeing solutions from a different perspective. I view my dyslexia as a strength in logical reasoning; which often results in finding simple unorthodox fixes to problems that may leave others perplexed.
I have great compassion for other students and enjoy volunteering and assisting within the special needs faculty of my school. My time within this facility helps to build the confidence and abilities of others who are less able. I do this through interactive sessions between SENCO students and an in-house sensory dog named "Dougie".
I have strong social and verbal communication skills and work towards making all environments inclusive. For this reason, I am a strong collaborator and mediator between others, and I enjoy teamwork with my peers.
In my spare time I enjoy swimming, running and athletics and I am a member at Better Sports Centers and participate regularly at Park Runs, having completed 100+ runs. I have also achieved my level 1 First Aid certification (St. John's Ambulance).
I have a great interest in engineering, specifically in regards to automotive and airplane mechanics. This has originated from a fascination with the history of WW2, and the development of technology pertaining to planes and automotives during this period. I was a member of the Sidcup Air Cadets until 2023, and I am currently a member of the car club at school. I have completed a one day flight simulation course piloting a spitfire at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar in 2022, and intend to continue my flight instruction in future.
