Work History

Senior CAD Technician

University of Plymouth
Plymouth
11.2022 - Current
  • School of Engineering's main CAD instructor and support; managing tutorials and lectures, teaching CAD-related techniques
  • University's license holder of the main CAD software package
  • Providing support to the students, researchers, and academics from various disciplines of engineering
  • Working with students and researchers in one-on-one sessions to help them with the CAD aspects of their projects

Research associate

Lancaster University
Lancaster, UK
01.2022 - 11.2022
  • Conducted comprehensive research on developing sustainable cementitious construction materials by replacing cement partially with supplementary cementitious materials and industrial byproducts
  • Developed new experimental research methodology to study the electrical and thermal properties
  • published three peer-reviewed research articles, two more in process

Marie Curie Early Stage researcher

Lancaster University
Lancaster, UK
01.2019 - 01.2022
  • Worked on a research project of harvesting energy from roads to support smart city infrastructures
  • The project was divided into three phases of exploring various options through each a comprehensive experimental and simulation research was conducted
  • In phase one, piezoelectric construction materials were developed and tested for their mechanical and electrical properties
  • in phase two, thermoelectric cementitious mixes were designed made, and tested for their thermoelectric properties; the experimental method was innovated and implemented
  • in the final phase, an electromagnetic road energy harvester was conceptualized, designed, built, and successfully tested.
  • The results have been published in two peer-reviewed research journals

Research assistant

Istanbul Technical University
Istanbul, Turkey
09.2012 - 12.2018
  • As a research assistant, I worked on various research projects focused on functional building materials and developing more sustainable cementitious mixes
  • In one of the projects, nano silica incorporating cement mixes was studied for its fresh properties as well as its mechanical and durability properties.
  • These properties were tested experimentally including several non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic pulse velocity, and photometric test
  • The same methods were implemented in the other research projects: studying polymer concrete and polymer-modified concrete mixes.
