Work history

Intern

Travancore Sugar and Chemicals ltd
2023.07 - 2023.08
  • Supported process monitoring of industrial sugar fermentation and multi-stage ethanol distillation, analysing the impact of pH (4.5–5.5), temperature, and substrate concentration on yield performance.
  • Evaluated reactor configurations and downstream separation strategies for acetaldehyde and acetic acid production, linking catalyst selection to process efficiency and safety considerations.
  • Participated in structured HAZOP reviews, identifying flow, temperature, and pressure deviations and reviewing associated safeguards.
  • Interpreted plant PFDs and instrumentation layouts to understand integration between fermentation, distillation, and utility systems.

Intern

Chemical Institute of Petrochemical and Technology
2022.11 - 2022.11
  • Built a strong foundation in polymer chemistry and manufacturing, covering polymerisation mechanisms and processing methods including injection moulding, extrusion, and blow moulding.
  • Gained exposure to tooling and mould design for polymer processing, working with core–cavity layouts, runner and gating systems, cooling design, and CAD modelling using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

KEY PROJECTS

1) Design project hydrogen generation from pome waste water

  • Led a 3-group team to design and simulate a hydrogen production process from POME wastewater using Aspen, validating full mass and energy balances and optimising alternative process routes for yield and feasibility.
  • Designed and simulated a 6-cycle PSA hydrogen purification system to evaluate feasibility of low carbon fuel production pathways, integrating safety systems,. developed PFDs and P&IDs, integrated control loops and safety systems, and conducted a comprehensive HAZOP covering hydrogen production, storage, and handling

2) Interface engineering of perovskite-hydrophobic film and bilateral deposition analysis

  • Formed hydrophobic film via spin and spray coating of ti02 nanoparticles, Formed perovskites from 3 different halide solution.
  • Bilateral deposition strategies and analysis using optical microscopy, Sem and contact angle measurements, Also looked at the values produced in uv-vis and fluorescence spectrometry.
  • Demonstrated highest PL intensity (100k units), sharp absorbance at 532 nm, narrow FWHM (16.9 nm), and improved crystal quality, indicating reduced defects and enhanced interlayer stability.

3) Designed a microfluidic device

  • Proposed and modelled 2 microfluidic devices that can separate particle for bulk chemical process, achieving 95% efficiency.
  • Engineered a device that combined a working of deterministic lateral displacement and pinched flow fractionation, separating particles of closely similar sizes.
  • Optimised a microfluidic configuration that combined the working of deterministic lateral displacement and hydrodynamic filtration, achieving greater than 90% efficiency.

3) Seminar Project: Processing and Wear Behaviour of Metal Matrix Composites (MMC)

  • Studied fabrication techniques for metal matrix composites, including stir casting, squeeze casting, and vacuum pressure infiltration.
  • Analysed the effect of reinforcements (SiC, B₄C) on mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, and wear resistance.
  • Evaluated the influence of processing parameters (stirring speed, time) on material homogeneity and performance.
  • Investigated wear mechanisms (abrasive, adhesive, fretting) and their dependence on load, temperature, and reinforcement type.
  • Reviewed industrial applications of MMCs in heat exchangers, filtration systems, and high-temperature components.

Other Employment

Floor/Promo staff at Perch Pub,Swansea

02/2025-02/2026

  • Replenished bar stocks. Refueling kegs and worked in a fast paced work environment, mitigating shortages for colleagues during peak hours.
  • Supported promotional activities by engaging with customers and increasing awareness of venue events and offers
  • Resolved customer queries and issues professionally, maintaining high service standards
