Career within the NatWest Group spanned 41 years and for all of that time it involved finance and IT expertise, along with considerable experience working with customers, both internal and external on a wide range of subjects.
Worked from home between March 2020 (bank policy due to Covid) and April 2024.
Retired from RBS International in April 2024 and as part of the retirement package I was not allowed to seek any employment for a minimum of 6 months.
I have plenty of spare time during evenings so am looking for a part time evening job to supplement my workplace pension as I am not eligible for the state pension for another 7 years.
Working in small team of 8 persons and was directly responsible for day to day management of number of software applications.
Duties included dealing with customers that had reported faults, identifying root cause of fault, working out what was required to resolve fault and liaising directly with customer to implement fix.
Part of role also included working with suppliers to manage support contracts, monitoring performance against Service Level Agreements and arranging monthly meetings to discuss issues and service improvements.
Responsible for leading technical team of 4 persons that provided application support and migration activities for number of NatWest software applications onto equivalent RBS platform.
Management duties included setting performance expectations for team, monitoring progress towards goals and providing technical advice when required.
Led number of small projects for new developments and existing application upgrades.
Responsible for the technology element of a number of small to medium projects delivering changes involving in-house
developed applications.
Recruited and led team of software developers to ensure bank applications were Y2K compliant in readiness for the start of 2000.
Additional responsibility also included management of IT Support Desk for offshore jurisdictions of Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Zurich, Bahamas and Cayman Islands.
Reviewed fault reports and requests for software enhancements and coded changes to bank software ready for implementation into production.
Duties also included being on-call 24/7 support resource (working alone most of time) on rota basis for overnight batch processing for other branches located in Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Switzerland and Channel Islands.
Also member of office social committee and arranged number of successful events during this time.
Direct contact with bank trust customers to discuss their requirements and provide advice.

Duties included preparing application and process documentation and creating/delivering user training.
Worked in small team of 4 persons to process photographic film.
Main duty was to prepare film for developing and ensure it safely reached next stage of processing. Also covered for printing images when required and associated quality control activities.
Duties also included manning counter in shop and taking customer instructions and providing advice.
For short while also ran film collection and delivery service for number of partner outlets throughout Douglas town centre and used motorcycle to travel between shop and outlets.
