I have worked as a strategic and tactical communications specialist in high pressure environments and geographically dislocated locations. Some areas of communications I have worked with include; mesh networks, Satellite communications, RF and covert communications, Wi-Fi defeat as well as providing technical support and training.
Having joined the army in 2009, I have served in the Royal Signals as a Communications System Operator with postings and deployments all over the world.
My first posting after completing training was to Germany where I worked on Bowman (Tactical Communications System) and Falcon (Strategic Communications System) detachments. I completed one tour of Afghanistan where I maintained an Ops room and communications systems for a one star and three star general.
On Return to Germany, I placed top in the Regiment on the Signaller grading board and was posted on promotion back to UK to 18 Signal Regiment and put into a troop who specialised in covert communications. During this posting I did a second tour of Afghanistan and also N. Ireland where I was the lead communicator for running the ops room, maintaining vehicle and personal communications as well as accounting for all cryptographic material.
After being promoted to the rank of Corporal, I was posted to 264 Signal Squadron as a specialist communicator where we use a vast range of tactical, strategic, and covert communication systems, various satellite bearers, and are trained in maintaining networks. whilst in this post I deployed on two operational tours and numerous worldwide exercises.
In 2021 I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and posted into my current signal troop, where our key skills are deploying mesh network communication systems, strategic communication systems, and Wi-Fi defeat capabilities. It was in this posting that I deployed on my final deployment with the army.
