I believe I am a hard working, reliable person with the ability of working well individually or in a team. My current role requires me both to work individually but mostly as a team and I have learnt valuable communication and team working skills due during my current role. I have also built these skills whilst playing rugby and understand how important it is to work as a team to achieve success. As my current role being based in 24/7 production facility that requires constant flow with minimum disruption, the faults or issues we have within my role are time sensitive and if not rectified quickly, will cost the company money. Due to this, I believe I am capable of working in a high pressured environments which are time sensitive, making quick decisions with the team in order to get production back underway. During my time at my current employer, I have completed many courses which are electrical maintenance or installation based, such as the my NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance. Also, at the end of my apprenticeship I had to do a competency file where I had to give practical evidence of work I was doing on site. My academic studies have allowed me to achieve a HNC and HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering which was completed in 2022.
My role as a Shift Maintenance Electrician is to mainly reacting to breakdowns on wide variety of electrical equipment to ensure plant availability, in a 24/7 production facility. Working within a team of 5, I work with with equipment supplied with DC Voltage, Low Voltage AC and High Voltage AC, carrying out isolations/permits and maintenance on electrical equipment. The equipment maintained within my current role would be AC/DC Motors, DC Cranes, AC/DC Control Panels, transformers and switch gear. All the above breakdown and maintenance work would require me to read electrical drawings to aid finding and rectifying breakdowns. As a shift maintenance electrician, I have carried out installation of small power and lighting circuits when required. During the period of working as a shift maintenance electrician I was authorised to self isolate and permit Low Voltage equipment within my department and was also authorised to connect and disconnect supplies on the interconnected network within my department incase of supply losses on the network. I am currently carrying out training to be authorised to isolate and permit High Voltage equipment.
I carried out a 4 year apprenticeship with Tata Steel as and electrical apprentice which was a combination of practical training and college courses, whilst also gaining experience on site. During my time as an apprentice, I undertook courses in the Tata Academy on PLC's, instrumentation, AC/DC drives, Basic Power and lighting installation, Fault Finding course and a final Practical Trade test and technical interview.
