Attention to Detail - In all aspects of my personal work/projects and exhibitions I have participated in, attention to detail has been a non negotiable I am a perfectionist so making sure to pay attention to each and every detail is vital
Time management - whilst organising, preparing, producing and finalising exhibitions and personal work/projects, which I have managed the given time effectively, which was vital for everything to run as smoothly as possible and to complete projects and exhibitions
Leadership Skills - I took on a leadership roll during my final degree show, consistently communicating to the group, resolved internal issues and conflicts between the artists, to ensure a cohesive exhibition with little to no issues
Determination - Over the years, from being the age of 16, I have grown in confidence and would describe myself as a determined individual I have not been the most academically gifted person, but chose to advance towards higher education as a personal goal I took the plunge to apply to a university on the other side of the country, where my determination allowed me to be offered an unconditional offer to study BA photography I took on the roll of student rep, a roll I never thought id take on but achieved, being a voice for my cohort and being both assertive and professional in meetings During my second year studies, Covid hit This effected my studies greatly (not being able to access facilities and equipment), so decided to defer and start the year from scratch I wanted to get the most out of my degree, so this was the best option going forward I went back to my studies, with a new set of classmates and pushed myself in my art practice to focus and to create a final body of work I am proud of This continued to my MA degree, something 16 year old me would not believe I cold achieve but with my growing confidence and determination, I completed my MA programme
Good Team worker - Studying at an Arts University, constantly being around creatives, we were encouraged to great lengths to collaborate In my class, collaborative exhibitions were a regular occurrence so adapting and gaining good team work skills was vital for projects to be completed Outside of my cohort of classmates, I have worked closely on collaborative projects with glassblowers, film students, as well as the Interdisciplinary Showcase collaborating with my whole year group in first year
Effective communication - Communication is important in any group project setting In every creative project I have participated in, I have maintained a effective level of communication, and following up with people who have not communicated effectively to the group to keep everyone in the loop and to ensure each persons voice is heard and taken into consideration
In 2017, myself and 30 students from 3 schools across England went on a 4 week trip to Tanzania where we were tasked to fundraise £4,500 to go on the trip. During the 4 week trip, our group participated in community action projects including
- Visiting and living in remote village in Tanga, North East Tanzania where we helped repair an Elder woman of the communities home which was crumbling apart.
- We Spent time in the rural Northern area of Tanzania visiting a small community, assisting local children in a school with their English speaking
As a group, we went on a walking safari which was also doubled as an elephant sanctuary. Here, we learned about the conservation work the local rangers and Maasai Tribe are doing to protect wildlife in the area.
At the end of our trip, we visited the Arusha National Park where we participated in a safari continuing on to Mountain Trek. The mountain we climbed was Mount Meru, the second highest mountain in Tanzania (14,968 ft in height), after Mount Kilimanjaro.
