Excellent at following instructions and completing complex tasks. Resilient and dedicated, with strong commitment to public safety and community service. Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills and teamwork, alongside physical fitness and ability to stay calm under pressure. Eager to contribute to public safety and make positive difference in the Wholetime Firefighter role.
Alongside my current role as a Fitness Manager, I commit a lot of my free time to being an On-Call (retained) firefighter at my local fire station. I take a lot of pride in my duties as an On-Call firefighter and ensure I take the utmost care into responding to every type of call out. Some of the tasks I've experienced in my short time in this role include:
Further on in my time with Village Hotels, I shortly progressed on from Team Leader to Fitness Manager. Over the two years at the company, I have developed many skills in confidence, communication, team work and leadership. My role as Fitness Manager requires all of the above skills.
As well as keeping all of the roles of a Team Leader (please see below,) my responsibilities now include being the first point of call for all areas of the gym/studios and equipment, resolving any problems that arise in these areas - ideally as quickly as possible. This also means that I am the direct manager for all personal trainers (PTs) and fitness instructors within the club, carrying the responsibility of their rota, class and PT monthly payments, setting monthly and quarterly targets for the team and handling all issues/queries they may have - all while successfully up-keeping great professional and friendly workplace relationships. This role means that I also have a large share of admin and compliance tasks regarding the operations of the club, these typically include:
As well as the above responsibilities within the leisure sector of the hotel, I also have responsibilities that lie elsewhere which include being Duty Manager of the Hotel when needed, home to over 150 rooms, a restaurant and a coffee shop as well as the gym - carrying the duty of being the point of contact for any issues that arise in these areas during the shift, using brilliant communication and problem solving skills to adhere to these responsibilities, completing regular fire walks around the hotel to ensure that all fire exits are clear and safe and attending meetings between departments for regular updates of the business.
Leading on from my previous position as a personal trainer here at Village Gym, my leadership skills proved useful as I was later promoted to Leisure Team Leader within just over a year of employment. This meant I was responsible for the working order of all leisure staff on duty - as well as occasionally being Duty Manager for the entire hotel when needed.
During my role as a Team Leader, I had a number of direct responsibilities, including:
I was able to develop my abilities rapidly due to being promoted to a Team Leader in quick succession, meaning I was able to help the hotel run smoothly wherever possible.
During my time at Village Gym as a fully qualified personal trainer, I was able to grow my skills as a person and as a personal trainer in a short amount of time. Being home to 4000+ members, I was able to interact with many different people and allow my communication skills to flurry.
My main responsibilities were very similar to those of my previous employment but on a much larger, more professional scale. These duties included designing personalised, in depth training programmes to a range of different members, instructing very high intensity classes to large groups of individuals and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service on the gym floor at all times, all while having to demonstrate great timekeeping skills. Personally, I also had good knowledge of the operations of the club which lead me to improve my leadership attributes when working as a team with the other personal trainers and employees within the club - standing out from the rest.
During my time as fitness instructor I matured, developed and gained many skills that can be applied across the industry which followed to my later rolls with different companies. My main responsibilities included maximising my time on the gym floor, where I was able to support the member experience. These duties included inducting new members, providing bespoke training programmes for clients or members, cleaning and maintenance of the gym equipment, completing member challenges, as well as instructing a number of fitness classes ranging from indoor cycling to full body HIIT workouts. From a young age, stepping into this environment I was passionate about providing great, professional customer service to all those I had interactions with day in and day out.
Working in a fast-paced environment at a young age, I was responsible for kitchen duties including portion control of meals, ensuring dishes were washed satisfactorily and all kitchen equipment and areas were thoroughly sanitised at the end of the day, ready for operations the following day.
