Part of a 5 man design team assigned to develop a fire rated ductwork system to rival Fire Protection.

Design, engineer, manufacture and test all aspects of a fire rated system including support bracketry, fire stopping, penetration seals and insulation requirements.

£1m spent on furnace testing which i attended regularly and helped install on a few occasions.

Produced a full catalogue of ductwork items in various specifications for fabrication.

Through the hundreds of tests we carried out, I developed a great understanding of the requirements of each specification and how the systems react in a fire situation, whether it be a car park extract fire outside system or a kitchen extract fire inside installation.

CAD Manager for 4 years before moving to the Technical side.

I enjoyed the drawing side too so i'd take the 'co-ordinated' working drawings and check against structural drawings and latest architects layouts to check the service will fit, then check all plant items were correct and dampers correctly specified.

Drawings were revised to provide the most cost effective way to manufacture and install whilst still complying with the FPL specifications which comprised of around 50 different specs for all fire applications such as fire outside smoke extract, car park vent or fire inside kitchen extract systems.

All supports were calculated and detailed ready for the works to fabricate.

Site based at Esso Glenn project for 10 months.

Self Employed on an hourly contract.

Produced Co-ordinated Mechanical drawings from design drawings, adding section views and incorporating structural details to provide a ready to install, fully co-ordinated with other services working drawing.

Dealt directly with architect and mechanical project engineers.

Trainee Mechanical Engineer position in a small M&E consultancy.

I taught myself Autocad Release 12 as all works in the office at that time was board drawn.

I worked on producing design drawings for both M&E services from architectural, structural and engineers drawings for approval issue.

Site surveys and drawings updated to Construction issue.
