Business Case: NHS Pathology Service Quality Improvement Project,
The business case provides an integration of two diagnostic techniques- Epigenetic profiling and Real-time Donor-Derived Cell-Free DNA (dd-cfDNA). These are internationally validated, non-invasive techniques which detects a graft rejection before any significant graft injury takes place. These tools reduce biopsy reliance, promotes precise immunosuppression treatments and aligns with UKAS ISO 15189, NICE’s Genomic Testing Pathway and NHS England’s digital transformation goals. This improves patient outcomes and service efficiency while also catalysing the NHS growth in biomarker driven diagnostics across different fields that are yet to be developed further.
