My name is Nathan Hulme, and I was born and raised in Yeovil, Somerset. I pride myself on being approachable, easy-going, and understanding, qualities that allow me to connect well with others. At the same time, I possess a firm and reassuring demeanour when necessary, enabling me to adapt effectively to different situations and challenges.
I thrive in team environments and take great satisfaction in completing tasks to the best of my ability. I am driven by a sense of accomplishment and the desire to contribute meaningfully to any team I work with. This dedication not only reflects my determination but also serves as a foundation for developing strong leadership skills. I am a mature, sensible individual with a genuine thirst for knowledge and self-improvement.
From a young age, I have been inspired by my family’s background in service and discipline. My father serves as a Home Office Force Sergeant, and my grandfather recently retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. Growing up around these influences has shaped my aspirations and instilled a deep respect for responsibility and hard work. Since secondary school, I have pursued opportunities to learn new, demanding skills that will not only enhance my professional capabilities but also enrich my personal growth.
In recent years, I have faced challenges that shaped my resilience and determination. Completing secondary school at the JCB Academy during the COVID-19 pandemic presented significant obstacles, as the country-wide lockdown limited my ability to pursue a hands-on technical role. During this time, I focused on prioritising my physical and mental health while taking on jobs to support my family and meet financial responsibilities. While this meant temporarily putting aside my aspiration of entering the mechanical and engineering sector, it also reinforced my commitment to achieving this goal.
Now that I am in a more stable position to support my family, I am eager to refocus on my passion for engineering. I am determined to join a role that will allow me to develop my skills, further my education in a trade, and progress in a field I deeply enjoy. My time at the JCB Academy ignited my enthusiasm for mechanical and electrical maintenance, as well as machinery processes; all of which I eagerly enjoyed as a hands-on learner who enjoyed being able to physically see and feel to learn. I am ready to bring that enthusiasm and knowledge back into my career and contribute meaningfully to a team where I can grow both personally and professionally.
As a Guest Safety Officer, I collaborate closely with on-site Elevate teams- including Guest Services, Environmental, and M&E- to ensure the safety, security, and smooth operation of Clarks Village. My key responsibilities include maintaining a visible security presence, responding promptly to security and medical incidents, as well as supporting the site's business-as-usual operations. I'm trained to be able to handle situations that may cause disruption, working independently or as part of a team to resolve issues and restore normalcy.
I regularly engage with external colleagues and contractors in this role, conducting audits, store welfare checks, and investigating incidents. These experiences have enhanced my knowledge and skillset, particularly in incident management, report writing, and implementing corrective actions within established guidelines.
I am fully trained to work independently, adhering to site policies and procedures designed to prevent and address incidents. My training includes investigating and resolving issues while safeguarding the safety of guests, staff, and the general public. I have been able to further expand my skillset by engaging with our teams to learn more about the more 'hands-on' tasks, such as the fire and security systems we have in place, to be able to further support my independence and knowledge to support the site.
My role has a lot of responsibilities, but some key ones include:
As an Administrator within the Somerset Hub for Coordinating Care, I played a key role in supporting a team that facilitated the delivery of healthcare services across Somerset. The hub involved several services, including the Intermediate Care Bed Hub, Somerset Primary Link GP Referral Service, Hospital at Home, and End of Life Care.
While my primary focus was on the SPL service, I had the opportunity to contribute across various teams, engaging with clinicians and other administrators across the Trust.
My responsibilities included acting as the single point of contact for clinicians and healthcare providers and streamlining the referral process for patients requiring admission to community hospital beds within the PCT. I liaised with clinicians, patients, and families to ensure accurate and timely communication, which was vital for providing the transitions. This involved booking transport, coordinating bed availability, and managing patient information with precision and confidentiality.
Working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, I developed a strong set of skills and a focus on attention to detail. In this role, I also collaborated closely with clinicians and other team members to identify and address potential issues or concerns in the referral process, contributing to service improvements. My ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize competing demands ensured the delivery of efficient and effective administrative support.
As a Civil Enforcement Officer, I operated across various areas in South Somerset, enforcing public roadway regulations and assisting the general public. My responsibilities ranged from issuing Penalty Charge Notices to addressing parking contraventions, supporting Government services with any incidents that may arise, all the way through to providing local knowledge, guidance, and support to members of the community. Every day provided me with a new experience, allowing me to become more confident in my communication skills as well as being able to work alone and maintain my knowledge base on current legislation and local regulations for closures and permits.
In this role, I developed and demonstrated a range of critical skills, including:
A key aspect of my role involved navigating dynamic and varied scenarios and adapting strategies to accommodate changing circumstances while maintaining effectiveness and professionalism. This flexibility and focus contributed to the efficient enforcement of regulations and the smooth operation of services within the community.
I worked as a Healthcare Assistant on Ward 225 at Royal Stoke University Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM). Ward 225 is a Trauma Orthopedic Ward with 36 beds, catering to a wide range of patients; from those requiring minimal assistance to individuals needing round-the-clock care, including patients with dementia.
My primary responsibility was to provide high-quality care to the patients assigned to me, ensuring their needs were met with compassion and efficiency. I also supported the nursing teams across the ward, particularly during periods of high demand, such as the challenges presented by COVID-19. My duties included assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, and maintaining accurate patient records, such as completing skin bundle documentation.
I served as the first point of contact for patients and their families, offering support, reassurance, and clear communication throughout their hospital stay. Additionally, I facilitated patient transfers to surgery and radiology departments, assisted with medical procedures, and worked closely with the Staff Nurse leading each shift to address any urgent medical needs.
This role was part of an apprenticeship and was part-time. While I gained invaluable experience in patient care and hospital operations, the limited hours eventually required me to seek a full-time position to meet financial obligations, as I was living in rented accommodation and UHNM was unable to provide additional hours.
As a Call Taker in one of the several ambulance control rooms across the County, I was responsible for handling all calls related to patient transport services. This included managing requests from patients, care providers, healthcare professionals, and hospitals across the West Midlands, parts of Liverpool, and the North. Our primary goal was to coordinate and provide efficient transport services to patients, ensuring they received the appropriate care throughout their journey.
The scope of our services covered a wide range of transport needs, including transportation to referrals, cancer-related admissions, and patient discharges. We managed various transport methods for eligible patients, ensuring that their specific requirements- such as manual handling or the need for specialist medical care (e.g., nurse or paramedic onboard)- were met.
In addition to standard transport, I worked closely with the High Dependency Unit, which dealt with more urgent or clinically demanding transport needs. This included emergency transport services, assisting 999 crews on the frontline, and transporting patients with traumatic injuries or those requiring specific medical interventions, such as those with tracheostomies. Our role was to handle cases that fell outside of the remit for a frontline crew but still required high levels of care and coordination.
This position significantly enhanced my problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills. I learned how to take charge of complex and demanding situations, ensuring the best possible outcomes in a short amount of time. Most importantly, I was always focused on prioritising patient care, making sure the correct transport method was selected to enable both our team and NHS healthcare providers to deliver the most effective treatment and care for patients.
I bring a diverse set of skills and qualities that make me a well-rounded and highly adaptable professional With a strong foundation in customer service and community support, I exceed my own expectations in building and maintaining positive relationships through friendliness, politeness, and effective communication I work to expand my knowledge on a variety of things, giving me the ability to engage with others allowing me to provide assistance, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering strong connections with colleagues, contractors, and the general public
I am proficient in being proactive in spotting and raising issues, with a keen eye for identifying concerns and communicating these to other relevant parties with a safety-conscious mindset investigating issues, incident reporting, and compliance policies ensures I consistently uphold high safety standards while advocating for best practices I demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach in challenging situations, leveraging my observational skills and critical thinking to make sound, ethical decisions under pressure
In addition to my technical and safety knowledge, I bring excellent timekeeping, self-motivation, and adaptability, which enable me to thrive in fast-paced environments I possess a strong aptitude for getting hands-on to learn new things, maintaining my knowledge and keeping up to date with ever-expanding procedures, and decision-making, all of which are underpinned by the manner in which I work and a commitment to maintaining calm under pressure
My background also includes volunteering and active contributions to the community, reflecting my passion for supporting others I prioritise learning and continuously develop my skills to remain effective and innovative in my role I feel that these qualities, combined with my ability to coordinate and communicate effectively, make me a reliable and resourceful professional dedicated to delivering excellence in all aspects of my work
In my spare time, I dedicate my skills to supporting services and charities as an investigator, assisting with inquiries and providing crucial aid to those in need. With current and ongoing qualifications in private investigation and online intelligence gathering, I collaborate with domestic and sexual abuse charities to collect information and intelligence that can be presented in court.
I specialize in OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), FININT (Financial Intelligence), and DARKINT (Dark Web Intelligence), working alongside teams of professionals and volunteers to gather evidence, intelligence, and factual information. My work focuses on safeguarding vulnerable individuals and preventing crimes such as fraud, online abuse material, and harassment. This includes analyzing public CCTV footage, investigating third-party financial fraud, and utilizing advanced open-source and dark web tools to collect actionable information legally and ethically.
My approach prioritises morality, ethics, and victim support, ensuring that those affected are guided through every step of the process. My work is always conducted to the highest standards to help victims achieve the justice they deserve. Having experienced similar challenges in my own life, this work is deeply personal to me.
