Current duties include day to day running of both the warehouse & cold store departments – overseeing the goods in and goods out to ensure all raw materials, packaging and finished products are received & dispatched correctly
Picking of all goods
Promoting a right first-time attitude to minimize any potential affects to the main factory production lines
Liaising with all transport companies to ensure all loads are met on time and in full
Ensuring critical temperature checks are maintained in both cold storage areas and in HGV trailers
Promoting safe working practices to ensure the safety and effective operation of the warehouse/cold store whilst in charge
I support the development of my team through the implementation of a training and development system, encouraging individuals to work in a team and maximizing contribution by hitting key performance indicators, promoting a culture of continuous personal development
I ensure standard operation procedures are kept up to date and followed by all staff
Working closely with supply chain on a daily basis to ensure everyone is up to date with the latest information and status.
I also ensure company critical control points are achieved and monitored to ensure product safety, including working to an exceptional standard of food safety and food hygiene
I also ensure all factory & warehouse waste is recycled to the highest possible standard ensuring all waste is disposed of safely, correctly & hygienically, enforcing clean as you go at all times
I would also manage the overall running of our lifting equipment, ensuring all pre start safety checks are completed, Organizing all service checks and arranging any other maintenance required
I have also overseen the implementation of a new build warehouse
To ensure maximum performance and the meeting of targets I attend daily routine meetings where I liaise with other managers and other departments to ensure any problems or issues that may arise are rectified through the use of the production plan
Weekly planning meetings are also attended, this allows me to plan for the week ahead
Monitoring this production plan daily to respond quickly to any sudden plan changes that have to be made
A daily morning meeting allows the team to discuss the performance of the previous day and any possible issue that we can expect for the coming day. I find this to be an effective tool to stopping any problems before they arise
Excellent communication skills are essential in conveying warehouse/cold store issues and problem solving to other departments and downwards through my teams in the Warehouse and cold store
Responsible for site security and its staff.
Experienced in the use of systems such as SAP, SAGE & JD Edwards to monitor the availability of raw materials
Management of 40 plus staff across 2/3-shift system.
Health & safety advisor - health & safety advisor for the site reporting directly into the group UK H&S manager. Duties include, reporting of accidents, near misses, lessons learned, weekly H&S audits. ensuring all assessments are carried out and kept up to date, dealing with any visits from the fire department and insurance companies etc. I am also part of the HACCP team for the site.
