Work history

Assistant site manager, site manager, Senior site manager

Caddick Construction Ltd.
York
2015.01 - 2026.02
  • Lawrence street York.
  • My first job for caddick was for 3 number blocks of traditionally built student accommodation. Whilst joining the team after construction had already started I was tasked with looking after the daily management of 1 block, after completion of the project I was left on site to snag to complete all of our works.
  • Kilner way retail park.
  • This was a shopping park in Sheffield and our scope of works was to construct new retail units and new car park, i worked as a number 2 during this project and learned more about steel frame construction and concrete frames.
  • Stonebow House York.
  • Stonebow house in York was an existing multistorey concrete framed building which we were down to refurb into 3 nr retail units and high end apartments. By this time I had managed to secure a promotion to site manager which meant I had a greater level of responsibility. The site team consisted of a project manager who I reported to, myself and an assistant site manager. Day to day running of the site was left under my remit as well as the health and safety aspects with the project manager left to plan further down the line.
  • Lincoln High street 179.
  • Lincoln high street 179 was 2 x blocks of student accommodation, Caddick had been employed to take over a previous contractor who had gone bust. The scope of works was to assess the quality of the existing install and take the project to completion, my own scope of works was focused on the building envelope and internals, unfortunately during this project our PM was taken ill and I was left to complete the project and hand over to the client myself which was done successfully.
  • SOYO B+C.
  • SOYO B+C were 2 x high rise blocks of residential apartments with retail space and parking on the lower floors, my scope of works for my time here was to manage the concrete frame, building envelope and externals, due to the scale of this project it required quite a large team of managers to oversee the various works so whilst we had one team on the internals I was tasked with leading the externals team under a project director. The site was split by an access road with a crane on each block to serve materials to the relevant areas.
  • Brindley way Wakefield.
  • An existing 2 storey office building on the outskirts of wakefield, this project included, refurbishment, demolition and new build aspects, built to an extremely tight programme and handed over on time, this was a small project but built to extremely high end modern standards, I project managed this was precon to handover with a site manager working underneath me.
  • Howden YARA
  • This project I joined rather late in its development, the envelope had just been completed and works were progressing in all areas, the team was struggling to manage the deadlines so I was brought in underneath the project director to lead the team of 2 managers and bring us back in line with programme

Assistant site manager

Lindum Group York.
York
2014.03 - 2015.01
  • During my short time at Lindum Group I worked as a number 2 predominantly on a residential housing scheme in York, some of my daily duties were as follows
  • Setting trades to work each day
  • Completing site take offs for material requisitions
  • Looking after health and safety
  • Attending meetings with various contractors and consultants.
  • Whilst at Lindum I also gained some experience on different types of construction projects one of which was on the Clifton moor retail park refurbishment where our main works consisted of upgrades to the car park, footways, new facades and signage totems as well as a new roof to a large section of the building.
  • My final project that I worked I worked on for Lindum was a timber frame housing scheme which consisted of 2-3 bedroom properties in Linton on Ouse, timber frame with traditional brick outer skins and tiled roofs with a new road and landscaped areas, on this project I was left alone to run the site with a manager checking in once a week.
