Skills
During Summer of 2024, I completed the Cisco Skills for All 'Introduction to Cyber Security' Course at Cisco Networking Academy This was a 6 hour course where I learnt introductory knowledge of cybersecurity including the impacts of threats and why cybersecurity is a growing profession After completing the course I was given an exam which I completed with an 80% pass rate
With this new achievement, I acquired various skills and badges such as:
- Threat Analysis - Can recognise the evolving cyber threat landscape, including different characteristics of cyberattacks, malware and cryptocurrency
- System Safe Guards - Understand how to protect data and information systems using authentication, encryption and backup
- Network Defence - Understand the various security measures needed to protect networks - from infrastructure to devices to data
- Resource Specialist - Is familiar with legal and ethical issues in cybersecurity and can recognise opportunities in the career pathways, credentials and work roles
During my journey of studying and trying to pursue a career in IT, I have also accumulated soft skills that will be beneficial for me once I pursue a career in cybersecurity
- Can communicate effectively and eloquently with my peers and can deliver presentations about my projects with confidence and pride
- Take pride in how I dress and how I present myself to others especially in offices and formal environments I enjoy dressing in business wear and understand the importance of dress codes
- A team player as well as a leader Can lead groups to success with my strong, success driven personality but I also know how to be a team player and how to play my part in group roles
- A self starter and self motivator My main source of motivation and I can keep myself motivated and disciplined during times of stress I can start and complete work independently for my own personal goals
I am a winner of TechGirl 2023 - Empowering future female leaders in partnership with NTTDATA. My award winning idea was a project on how technology can be used in schools and educational facilities to enhance the learning experience of Disabled Students both in mainstream and special education schools. My idea was inspired by my disabled brother's experiences and I wanted to be able to create devices that would help disabled children retain knowledge more efficiently inside the classroom. I was given the opportunity to travel to London into the iconic Abbey's Studios where the ceremony was held. Here, I was able to network with fellow girls like myself who are looking to pursue a career in IT and STEM. I was given the opportunity to speak with wonderful mentors who coached us and gave us advice on how to thrive in our careers in technology. Our mission was to raise attraction and awareness for young girls to break into the IT industry. My personal aim is to make the STEM field more diverse and inclusive for all genders and promote the presence of powerful women working in technology especially cybersecurity.
