I am an experienced eager person with a passion for patient centred care and I have the ability to work well under pressure. I have been in the police and the NHS since the age of 18 and I am always learning new skills.
I enjoy working with people and feel very fortunate to have worked in the areas I have worked in. I am looking to further my skills in a new area of work, and for a new challenge.
I have a clean full UK driving licence and my own vehicle.
I have been a special constable for Wiltshire Police since 2019. Prior to this I was a special constable for Hampshire police for 11 years.
I am a fully warranted police officer with the same full police powers as a full time police officer but I do it voluntarily. I carry out one shift every 10 days around my family and work.
I work in rural areas outside Salisbury and regularly visit schools to meet children and build positive relationships.
I attend 999 calls if needed and de-esculate hostile situations whilst remaining calm and keeping people and property safe. I also attend road traffic accidents, domestic violence calls and missing people, sudden deaths and suicides.
I find my role very interesting and I know I have grown as a person whilst learning transferable skills. I work in a close team and we cover 100 square miles of the rural Wiltshire areas.
I have been in the NHS in Hampshire Hospitals for the last 21 years as a health care support worker. I work on an adult rehabilitation ward as a bank member of staff.
I build relationships with the patients and their families and help them feel safe at a time that can be very frightening and overwhelming.
I am confident and articulate when taking patient observations and maintaining patient notes.
I feel I am good at working alone as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. I am trained to identify when a patient may have a sudden deterioration in their health. I am confident in then escalating the patient so they are cared for effectively and promptly.
In both my roles patient confidentiality is maintained as well as dignity and mindful of their individual religious beliefs and cultural needs. I feel no matter how long I have worked on the ward, I am always learning.
Prior to starting my bank contract I was a substantive member of staff in a busy outpatients department in Winchester however bank work was better suited to our growing family.
I won special constable of the year for 2023 for Wiltshire police and won this due to my commitment and dedication as well as support to the team I work with.
I take pride in being a reliable member not letting wards down ahead of my planned shift. (in the NHS I work on a zero hour contract)
I have received a 'Wow' award which is an award nomination from a patient I supported during the birth of her baby following a previous traumatic birth.
I have to undertake annual fitness tests to maintain my fitness as a frontline police officer. I also have to complete continuous personal development to ensure I am up to date with current leglislataion and training.
