Context: This position enabled me to conduct on optimising collaborative initiatives within policing to address racialised policing in Canada which contributed to the departments growing research on policing.


  • Conducted published primary research by creating a three part podcast series on collaborative initiative alongside senior police officers, academics, doctors, and social activists.
  • Synthesised primary and secondary data to write my paper titled 'In what ways can collaborative initiatives enhance social care?' which was disseminated to academics within the department and members of the police service.
  • Planned, Coordinated, and organised meetings with Graduate students and faculty members to discuss ongoing research and improve internal practices.
  • Presented my findings and insights to the faculty which was celebrated and integrated into the growing research literature in the department.

  • Utilised elements of participant observation technique when traveling across 6 cities in England to build relationships with young people in different settings such as schools, parks, and recreational centers.
  • Incorporated soft skills such as emotional intelligence and adaptability when communicating with young people who were labeled as hostile and or had learning difficulties.
  • Gathered and re-visited primary qualitative data to build 25 case studies of young people and co-authored our yearly impact report which was presented to current and potential corporate partners.
  • Employed problem-solving skills when dealing with high-risk young people who may have been involved in drug dealing and other abusive situations.

  • Worked on surveys and utilised data from Salesforce to understand why attendance was dropping at their collective action meetings.
  • Wrote and disseminated our weekly bulletin using Mailchimp to an audience of over 1000 readers including critical stakeholders such as financial institutions and policymakers.
  • Analysed their quarterly social media data to increase engagement on Twitter and Linkedin Result
  • Collective Action meeting attendance for the group with the lowest attendance increased by 70% and engagement rates on Linkedin and Twitter increased by 65% from quarter 1 to quarter 2.

Women's rights and Empowerment Research Intern

  • Conducted qualitative research such as interviews with 3 domestic violence survivors and COSOPO staff which enabled me to build deeper relationships to create a deeper understanding ofthecauses of domestic violence in Tanzania.
  • Utilised secondary sources such as research articles and the experiences of my supervisors to deepen my understanding of domestic violence.
  • Pitched the well-received ‘Holistic Programme’ which was an intervention based on addressing various aspects of society to reframe the narrative of domestic violence being merely a ‘domestic’ issue.

    Panelist on the Education Policy Institute's ‘Does mental health affect attainment?’ panel

  • Invited by the Education Policy Institute to be a panelist alongside UCL academics, Psychologists, and Ofqual employees following how valuable they believed my insights to be at a roundtable discussing the link between attainment and mental health
