  • Assess and obtain history of the complex and acute patient within the triage unit
  • Physical examinations such as vaginal examinations, speculum examinations, abdominal palpation – to determine fetal position and uterine tone, full antenatal assessments, including fundal height measurement, genetic screening, fetal auscultation or computerised cardiotocography and interpretation.
  • Administration of blood transfusions and all other appropriate blood products, including red blood cells, plasma and fibrinogen.
  • Evaluate growth scans throughout pregnancy and develop appropriate care plans.
  • General health and well-being advice for women, including nutrition, exercise, mental health and lifestyle modifications in mothers.
  • Safe medicine management, including administration of controlled drugs, IV antibiotics and IV labetalol and magnesium sulphate.
