  • The unit consisted of 24 detox beds, 4 female, 6 chemical dependency and 14 alcohol with a total bed capacity of 140.
  • Admission was accepted on a 24/hour, 7 days a week basis, It was a very challenging work environment with only one qualified nurse on per shift.
  • As a Detox Nurse I was responsible for assessing and monitoring the physical and psychological withdrawal from alcohol/mood altering drugs.
  • Administering prescribed medication with the goal of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents while undergoing the detox process in conjunction with a visiting GP and members of the detox team.
  • I also had the additional responsibility of coordinated training for the MDT.
