A motivated Veterinary Nurse who is keen to progress my career further, while also working within a team and supporting those around me including Nurses, VCAs and Veterinary Surgeons, however I also enjoy lone working and using my initiative.

Passionate and enthusiastic about giving my patients the best standard of care in every scenario whether that be inpatient care or surgical patients, while following protocol to maintain a safe working practice and also building a good rapport with clients.

  • Qualified in June 2023 after 3 years training at Myerscough college, and gaining an FdSC in Veterinary Nursing
  • Did all my training at my current employer and was offered a full time role after qualifying
  • Day to day duties include:
  • Preparing the surgery for the day e.g. cleaning and preparing theatre for surgical patients, preparing the preparation area for surgical patients, testing anaesthetic circuits, cleaning surfaces, damp dusting.
  • Admitting and discharging surgical patients, taking blood samples, placing intravenous catheters and intravenous fluid therapy, including fluid calculations, monitoring anaesthetics.
  • Performing diagnostic tests on patients e.g. radiographs, urinary tests, and many other laboratory tests.
  • Dispensing and administering medications to patients prescribed the the Veterinary Surgeons.
  • Gave my patients a high level of care in many different scenarios including post operatively, inpatient care and in a variety of situations in which the patients may have been significantly stressed.
  • Helped in a variety of emergency situations within practice e.g. oxygen supplementation, CPR, IPPV.
  • Maintained cleanliness in practice in accordance with infection control and to create a safe working environment.
  • Restrained a variety of small animals in many different situations, while always trying to minimise stress for that patient.
  • Conducted a wide range of nurse clinics from nail clips, second vaccines and post op checks to six month health checks, diabetic clinics and dental clinics.
  • Reception work including, answering phones, taking payments and booking appointments
