Volunteering

  • Feeding Dreams Cambodia, A non-profit charity based in Siem Reap, Cambodia providing free meals, education and support to children living in the Siem Reap slums, Volunteering, Siem Reap, Cambodia, During my time at Tudor Hall School, I was fortunate enough to participate in volunteer work in another country. I applied to volunteer for the Feeding Dreams charity in Siem Reap, Cambodia which I was fortunate enough to be awarded. The application process consisted of writing a detailed essay on why I wanted to volunteer in Cambodia along with a 20-minute interview with one of the charities head members. After being awarded this, I spent 2 weeks at the primary school in Cambodia where in which I helped teach young children from the ages of 4 to 18 English. This was incredibly eye opening for me as I witnessed a much different learning environment to the one I was in and urged me to continue to help in any way I can. This incredible trip helped me develop skills like team leadership as I oversaw and taught 14 young children.
  • William Morris primary school, Volunteering, Banbury, During my penultimate year at Tudor Hall School I volunteered at a local primary school named William Morris every Thursday afternoon. Throughout this, I played a vital role in supporting the education of young students by teaching them English and Maths. Additionally, I mentored a Year Eight student, providing guidance with her reading and holding weekly conversations with her regarding her well-being. This experience allowed me to develop key skills such as communication, empathy, and adaptability, while making a positive impact on both the academic and personal growth of the students I worked with.
