Collecting Edwardian postcards of the Thirsk area Travelling Europe particularly Italy and Croatia I run a Facebook Page Thirsk Northallerton and surrounding areas that I post old photo's postcards and ephemera as well as encourage members to do the same from their collections at home. This includes or creates many stories and invokes many memories on local history , a place or on the people. Another Facebook page I have been asked to run is 'The Falcon' a new page dedicated to Thirsk School built in 1958 so about to have its 70th anniversary. Again I am filling the posts with old photos , newspaper clips and memories with a remit to connect the present school not only with the past but also the community itself . As a result we are looking to organise a School reunion at the school this November I have i I am a keen amateur genealogist and do free family trees on request using the Find my Past and Ancestry site. I also use the British Newspaper access on Find my Past for clippings of local events from 1700 for my own research and Facebook groups
