Raising any concerns to a senior member of staff such as a suspected tongue tie baby or babies who are underweight. Safeguarding of all children and adults by raising any areas of concern to the person in charge. Organising and hosting events such as family Christmas parties and coffee mornings. The position was based at The Salvation Army, Maidstone, Kent and Maidstone NHS Trusts Birthing Centre, Maidstone. Reasons for leaving - I was working in London and also had young children, so I needed to keep my paid position. Therefore, I felt it was time to leave the volunteer role which I had enjoyed so much.
CAREER BREAK
February 2003 - December 2003 - After Sunlife of Canada relocated I took the opportunity to take a career break to look after my first daughter.
January 2005 - November 2006 : Time away from work to concentrate on raising my daughter before she started school for the first time.
January 2008 - December 2008 : Soon after I delivered my son at a planned home birth I started my first volunteer position. My midwife at the time suggested I would be a good fit in a peer support breastfeeding role. I started attending the mother and baby drop in she suggested and soon was enrolled onto a peer support course. N.B I had to wait until I was six months post delivery before I could start this.
