- As a field service tech at Axyz my day to day is mainly carrying out Servicing and repairs of CNC routers which includes: checking the condition of, lubricating and if needs be replacing bearings, checking the condition of racks and pinions for X and Y axis, checking connections for any loose or damaged wiring and checking squareness of machines. Breakdowns include issues such as a simple replacement of a drive for one of the axis or replacement of damaged bearings to using electrical diagrams to and multimeters to diagnose electrical faults. I also build up and install machines on customer sites as well as providing some operator training where necessary. In this role I’ve also had to familiarize myself with Vcarve software to be able to generate basic drawings for machine testing.

- My day to day at DIL consists of production of equipment such as intercom modules and power supplies. From writing up a bill of materials and ordering the metal works, component stock and soldering all conventional components to PCB’s which are then assembled and flashed with firmware if required before testing the functionality. I also liaise with the sales department and our customers about lead time and any other modifications that may be required for their orders.

- During my time at Randex, I’ve serviced vertical lift machines by cleaning sensors, adjusting chain tension, lubricating, updating firmware, checking sprockets and seals. I’ve attended breakdowns, from simple sensor blockages to resolving issues like skewed trays with bent brackets or broken hooks, using manual mode or scissor lifts for access. Additionally, I’ve participated in building and stripping down machines up to 16 meters in height. Replacing 3phase motors and wiring in LED bars for picking systems have also been a part of my role as well as resolving breakdowns over the phone by talking the operators through simple tasks like returning trays to storage through using manual mode.

- I began at TSG as a project technician, handling simpler repairs on fuel dispensers like nozzle swaps, basic testing, and maintenance visits. Within 6 months, I was promoted to field service engineer, where I tackled complex tasks like fitting motherboards, programming settings, replacing parts of the dispensers frame following a hit by a car which required stripping various internal components out and refitting all back correctly and commissioning new dispensers. Additionally, I joined an on-call rotation for Liquified Natural Gas pumps.
